In this article, we’ll show you how to place an iHerb order to Switzerland. We gathered information on various shipping services, discovered how they differ, learned how to avoid paying customs duties, and much more interesting insights about iHerb in Switzerland.
iHerb Switzerland Shipping Options: Swiss Post vs. DHL Express
We placed our test order on May 12 and saw two shipping choices at checkout:
Feature | Swiss Post | DHL Express |
---|---|---|
Cost | Free for orders of 40 CHF or more | 10 CHF |
Estimated Transit Time | About 7–9 days | About 4–8 days |
Taxes & Duties | Included (DDP) | Included (DDP) |
Weight Limit | Up to 30 kg (66 lbs) | Up to 68 kg (150 lbs) |
Delivery to PO Box | Not available | Not available |
Our takeaway:
- Swiss Post is perfect if your order is at least 40 CHF and you don’t mind waiting about a week.
- DHL Express costs 10 CHF but delivers a few days faster and handles much heavier packages.
How Long to Wait for an iHerb Order to Switzerland
Of course, everyone is concerned about the question, “How long should I wait for a parcel?”. Here are the approximate timeframes given by iHerb:
Shipping Method | Approximate Delivery Time |
---|---|
Swiss Post | 7–9 days |
DHL Express | 4–8 days |

Example: We ordered on May 12. Swiss Post estimated May 19–21, and DHL Express estimated May 16–20.
iHerb Switzerland Free Shipping Details
To qualify for free shipping via Swiss Post, simply make your cart total 40 CHF or more.
- If the amount in your shopping cart is CHF 39.50, you will have to pay for shipping – fixed CHF7.00 via Swiss Post and approximately CHF11 via DHL Express.
- Adding a small item (vitamins, a sheet mask, or a travel container) for a couple of francs will get you the “Free Shipping” badge in your cart.
Free shipping still ships from the US, so plan for about 7–9 days in transit.
Swiss Customs Duties on iHerb Orders
We conducted a small experiment to find out exactly when customs duties (in addition to the always-charged VAT) begin to apply. We added items to our cart one by one and watched how the total amount changed.
As you can see in our screenshots, for an order total up to CHF 834.88 (product cost CHF 838.03 minus discount CHF 3.15), only VAT (Import Taxes) of CHF 21.98 is charged, and the “Duties” line remains zero.

However, as soon as the cart subtotal exceeded that threshold and reached CHF 836.38 (products CHF 839.91 minus discount CHF 3.53), a “Duties” charge of CHF 4.54 appeared alongside Import Taxes of CHF 22.16.

Our insight: Customs duties on iHerb orders to Switzerland start kicking in once the product subtotal (after discounts) exceeds roughly CHF 835. To avoid them, keep your cart total just below that threshold. Keep in mind that due to exchange rate fluctuations, this threshold may shift slightly.
