iHerb Taiwan Location

iHerb is purely an online retailer. There are no brick-and-mortar iHerb locations, not in Taiwan, not in the US, not anywhere. Everything is sold, packed, and shipped online. If someone tells you there’s a local “iHerb shop” in Taipei or Kaohsiung, it’s not official—iHerb doesn’t operate physical stores.

iHerb Taiwan Customs: Updated Information for 2025

Customs in Taiwan is often the most confusing part. We’ve broken it down into easy-to-understand questions and answers with examples.

Does iHerb Charge Customs?

Short answer: Yes. iHerb uses Delivered Duties Paid (DDP) for Taiwan shipments. That means iHerb estimates VAT and import duties and collects that money at checkout. You’ll see a “Duties & Taxes” line item in your cart. Once you pay, there is no additional customs fee when you pick up or receive your package.

So, does iHerb charge customs? Yes—so you don’t have to pay anything extra later.

How Are Taxes and Duties Calculated in Taiwan?

  1. Order Value + Shipping Fee = Dutiable Amount
Even if shipping is “free,” the system still treats a $0 shipping cost as part of the dutiable amount. So a cart sub‐total of NT$1,200 + NT$0 shipping = NT$1,200 dutiable.
  2. Value-Added Tax (VAT)
Taiwan’s VAT is 5%. iHerb calculates 5% of (cart total + shipping). For example, if your dutiable amount is NT$1,000, VAT is NT$50.
  3. Custom Duties (Varies by Product)
Depending on the category, duties can range from 0% to 30%. Most dietary supplements and vitamins attract a 30% supplement tax. Other categories (e.g., cosmetics or skin care) may have different duty rates.
    • Example: You order NT$2,000 worth of capsules. Shipping is free. Dutiable amount = NT$2,000.
      • VAT (5%): NT$100
      • Duty on supplements (30%): NT$600
      • Total Duties & Taxes: NT$700

iHerb shows these calculations at checkout so you can see exactly what you’ll pay.

iHerb Orders Under NT$2,000: Will I Still Pay Duties?

  • Under NT$2,000 (per shipment): Generally no duties if it’s also within your “order count” limit (explained below).
  • However, iHerb still shows a Duties & Taxes line at checkout. They pre-collect to streamline customs clearance. If it turns out you didn’t owe any tax, iHerb will refund you the entire amount within about 5 business days after delivery (provided you completed the necessary steps, see “EZWAY” below).

So, even if iHerb charges “Duties & Taxes” for an order under NT$2,000, you may get a refund if you’re eligible.

Taiwan’s 6-Shipments Rule Explained (Customs Policy)

Taiwan imposes a second filter based on how many shipments you import in a six-month window (Jan–Jun or Jul–Dec):

  • Up to 6 shipments (each valued under NT$2,000) → No duties (if you stay under the NT$2,000 threshold).
  • 7th shipment and beyond (each under NT$2,000) → Duties apply, even if the order is small (e.g., NT$300).

This “6-shipment rule” applies across all foreign sellers, not just iHerb. Customs tracks your name (via Real-Name Authentication in EZWAY). Once you cross that 6-package threshold in the given half-year, every subsequent “small” order gets duties.

Example:

  • January: Order in NT$500 → no tax.
  • February: Order in NT$700 → no tax.
  • Sixth order: NT$800 → no tax.
  • Seventh order in June: NT$400 → duties now apply, even though NT$400 < NT$2,000.

iHerb still collects Duties & Taxes at checkout for that seventh parcel and won’t refund. That’s why tracking your import count is important.

When and How Will iHerb Refund Customs Fees?

  1. At Checkout: You pay Duties & Taxes (VAT + Duty) upfront on every order.
  2. Customs Confirm Exemption: After your package arrives in Taiwan, customs tells iHerb whether your shipment is exempt (because you’re under NT$2,000 and under 6 shipments in half-year).
  3. Refund Issued: If exempt, iHerb refunds the full Duties & Taxes within 5 business days of delivery confirmation.
    • They issue refunds back to the original payment method.
    • Note: National holidays or delays in customs processing may push this timeline a bit, but typically it’s quick.
  4. What If Customs Doesn’t Clear?: If customs rejects or holds your parcel for any reason, you might not get a refund, especially if you fail to respond to EZWAY notifications (see next section).

EZWAY App: Mandatory for iHerb Taiwan Deliveries

EZWAY App is Taiwan’s official customs clearance tool for imported goods. You must:

  1. Download EZWAY from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Register with your Taiwanese National ID / ARC (Real-Name Authentication).
  3. Respond to Push Notifications when you have a new iHerb parcel arriving.

The notification usually asks you to confirm:

  • “This is my shipment.”
  • “I agree to import.”

If you ignore or miss the notification for more than 15 days, customs may:

  • Charge a detention fee (NT$200 per day).
  • Return or even destroy your package.
  • Deny refund of Duties & Taxes.

Our Tip for you: Install EZWAY before your first iHerb order. As soon as your package reaches Taiwan, you’ll get a pop-up in the app. Tap “Confirm” and you’re done.
